Authorities summoned the activist on August 4, 2026. The summons followed his viral allegations against a senior police officer. The dispute involves a controversial murder investigation in Lagos State.
Legal team issues strict demands
Deji Adeyanju and Partners released a formal response on August 5, 2026. Lawyer Zainab M. Otega signed the detailed press statement.
”having regard to the public interest generated by this matter, the status of the public official involved, and the need to preserve public confidence in the investigative process, our client respectfully requests that his appearance before the Nigeria Police Force be conducted in a manner that guarantees transparency and fairness.” The legal representative wrote.
Otse agreed to honour the police invitation. However, his team outlined three non-negotiable conditions. The first demand focuses on public visibility.
”That the interview be broadcast live by one or more national television stations or other accredited broadcast media organisations to ensure maximum transparency and to eliminate any possibility of misinformation or misrepresentation.” The document detailed.
The second condition requires legal protection. The activist wants his legal counsel present at all times.
”That his lawyers be permitted to accompany him and remain present throughout the interview.” The firm noted.
The final request brings in outside monitors. Otse wants civil society groups to watch the session. He specifically named the Nigerian Bar Association.
”That representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association be invited to observe the interview as independent observers to further enhance public confidence in the investigative process.” The statement read.
Murder investigation fuels public anger

Activists are questioning AIG Jimoh Moshood about a specific murder probe. The case involves the deaths of Sheriff Ishola Salami and Prince Ademola Akinloye. Police previously arrested two suspects named Fabo and Bariga.
A leaked police report detailed the initial confessions. The suspects claimed a man named Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi hired hitmen.
Police later cleared Akanbi after an Interpol arrest. Detectives stated he was outside the country during the murders. The current public dispute centers on two missing suspects known as Bode and Kenny.
Otse believes the police mishandled the murder investigation. His legal team defended their bold requests.
”These requests are made in good faith and are neither intended to undermine the statutory investigative powers of the Nigeria Police Force nor to dictate the manner in which it discharges its constitutional and statutory responsibilities. Rather, they are made in recognition of the exceptional public importance of this matter and the need to ensure that the investigative process commands the confidence of the public.” Otega concluded.
