Streams of Joy refunds a distressed mother after an accidental transfer sparks online panic
On Saturday, Streams of Joy International refunded N1,640,200 to Sandra Okpara after an erroneous bank transfer. Okpara, a single mother of two, mistakenly sent her clients’ money to Pastor Jerry Eze’s ministry instead of a N1,000 offering. The church returned the funds following her viral online appeal.

Sandra Okpara faced sheer panic after a single digital mistake wiped out funds meant for other people. The single mother of two mistakenly paid over N1.6 million to a prominent religious ministry.
On Friday, Okpara wanted to send N1,000 as an offering before paying business associates. Her phone screen recorded the wrong recipient and transferred N1,640,200 to Streams of Joy International. ValidUpdates understands that the sudden loss pushed the distressed woman into quick public action.
A Costly Screen Tap And Panic
Okpara quickly recorded an emotional video clip and shared her distress across social media networks. She begged viewers to connect her with leaders of the church to rescue the cash.
“This money is not my money. I cannot do offering of 1,640,200. Please help me trace the accounts,” she pleaded in the video.
Okpara explained that she planned to wire the large sum to a Zenith Bank account. Her finger tapped the wrong bank profile during the fast payment process.
“My hand just clicked that one. Before God and man, it was erroneous,” she said.
She rushed to a Zenith Bank branch to stop the money immediately. The bank officials could not reverse the funds without formal processes. She then sought help from her mobile payment provider to resolve the nightmare.
“I went to Moniepoint; they lodged the complaint, but they were asking for a court order. I don’t know how to contact them. I went to Pastor Jerry’s online prayer platform,” she said.
Okpara only discovered the devastating error after she opened her digital transaction receipt. The shocking sight of the deducted sum threw her into severe physical panic.
“I didn’t see it. I just made the transfer. After I did it, I had to open the receipt. I was screaming. I had to go to the toilet. I urinated. I came out. I looked at it that there was no hope,” she said.
Church Verifies Claim And Returns Cash
The viral video quickly caught the attention of Streams of Joy International on Saturday. Church administrators launched an internal audit to confirm the deposit into their accounts.
“We have transferred her money back to her,” Streams of Joy International said.
The ministry announced the full refund in a public statement on X. Church officials stated that Okpara never sent an email, call, or direct message before posting her clip. The organisation noted that its official lines remain open to resolve accidental transactions promptly.
