Imo State governor replies the singer and predicts a major loss for Ademola Adeleke in Osun
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has fired back at Davido over his recent comments on the Osun State election. On August 6, 2026, Uzodimma advised the singer to hire his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as a backup dancer after his predicted loss at the polls.
The political tension ahead of the Osun State governorship election has sparked a fierce war of words. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has now issued a sharp reply to Afrobeats star Davido.
Davido recently warned an unnamed Imo politician to stay away from the upcoming Osun polls. The singer is currently leading the youth campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke. Uzodimma felt targeted by the warning because his wife hails from Imo State.
The Dancing Job Offer
Ambrose Nwaogwugwu released a statement on behalf of the Imo governor on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The aide dismissed Davido’s claims and told him to focus on Osun voters instead.
”It is rather pedestrian for Davido to direct such an appeal to the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum simply because his wife is from Imo State,” Nwaogwugwu stated.
”Instead, his appeal should be directed to the people of Osun State, who will ultimately decide the election’s outcome through their votes,” the aide added.
Uzodimma advised the music star to start planning for his uncle’s life outside politics. He stated that Osun voters are ready to embrace a new direction. The governor boldly claimed that Adeleke will lose his seat after the August 15, 2026 election.
”Rather than attempting to influence Governor Hope Uzodimma through emotional appeals, Davido should concentrate on helping his uncle prepare for life after office,” the governor noted.
”Perhaps, Davido should also begin making preparations to officially sign his uncle as a dancer in his musical band because, judging by the mood of the electorate, he may well be out of a political job after the August 15, 2026, governorship election,” he declared.
APC Campaign Push
Uzodimma maintained that he wants a peaceful and fair election process in the state. He confirmed that the APC will continue to rally support for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
The Imo governor strongly criticized the current administration in Osun State. He claimed that Governor Adeleke has failed to properly manage his duties. He believes the people of Osun have already rejected the current leadership.
”The signals emerging from across Osun State are clear,” the governor said.
”There is a growing indication that a significant number of voters have rejected the current administration and are prepared to embrace a new direction,” he concluded.
