News of the tragic death of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Okebaram Stanley Chimaroke, has plunged the Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State into mourning. His lifeless body was reportedly recovered from a body of water recently, following intense search efforts.
Chimaroke, a Civil Engineering graduate, previously served as the President of the Student Union Government (SUG) at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede. This promising young leader was serving his nation when disaster struck, leaving colleagues and family devastated.
Background and Disappearance
The mystery surrounding his disappearance began on July 25, 2026. According to police sources, Aribisola Bisi Isaac, a fellow corps member serving in Nembe, officially reported Chimaroke missing at approximately 8:40 p.m.
Marvelous Adeola accompanied Isaac to make the report. The Local Government Inspector informed the police that Chimaroke was last seen around 8:00 p.m. on July 24th, 2026. Repeated attempts to reach the missing 27-year-old via his mobile numbers proved unsuccessful.
Investigation and Community Reaction
Following the alarming report, police operatives immediately mobilised for a search and investigation operation. They traveled to the creek community, located roughly 45 minutes by boat from the Nembe Divisional Headquarters.
News of his death quickly spread across social media platforms. Friends and associates shared tributes and demanded justice for the late corps member. Some online posts even alleged Chimaroke was attacked by unidentified assailants before his body was thrown into the water.
At this point, the Bayelsa State Police Command has not officially confirmed the specific details surrounding his death. However, they previously assured the public that efforts were ongoing to locate him and investigate the case fully.
