The Arewa Youth president has officially rejected Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 elections. The group claimed the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate failed to consult them. Furthermore, the Northern leader threatened to sack any state coordinator who campaigns for Obi in the region.
The Arewa Youth group has dealt a heavy blow to the 2027 hopes of Peter Obi. The Northern bloc rejected the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate during a live broadcast.
On August 5, 2026, the group leader spoke on News Century Television. He warned the former Anambra governor to stay away from the North. The president declared that Northern voters will ignore Obi at the polls.
”Peter Obi should count northern Nigeria out of his campaign zone. No single state in northern Nigeria will vote for Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.”
The youth leader stated this during the interview. He noted that the politician made a huge mistake by ignoring Northern elders.
Lack of vital talks
”Peter Obi did not consult us before coming out to contest for president in 2027. We have no agreement with him, and we are not going to support him,”
The Arewa boss explained this lack of talks. He pointed out that Northern youths hold the keys to the highest office. Candidates need their full backing to win.
