Anti-Christian claims
The bill also sets a strict ₦50,000 penalty for anyone caught preaching to passengers. The proposed law now awaits the final signature of President Bola Tinubu.
Ibiyeomie firmly rejected the legislative move during his Sunday sermon. He warned that passing such a law would cause major problems across Nigeria. The cleric stated he would not watch people humiliate his faith.
”I don’t know where they kept their brains!” he shouted.
The pastor also turned his focus toward other religious figures in the country. He accused prominent pastors of staying quiet due to tribal loyalties.
Allegations of bribery
Ibiyeomie claimed that some church leaders led loud protests during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s term. However, he noted these same leaders refuse to condemn the current lawmakers. He alleged they have accepted money from the present government leaders.
Road safety officials argue the new rules will reduce transit distractions. Many religious groups view the ban on bus preaching as a direct attack.
