The place is Nkpolu, in Obio/Akpor Local Council. Youths say hard drugs now ruin lives and homes. They launch a “No to Drug Abuse” drive. They move fast and raid a base in town.
Youth drive targets dealers and users
Leaders say the aim is clear and firm. They want no drug sale or open drug use. They grab three men and march them out. The crowd then flogs them in the street.
Officer shows ID, stays quiet on claims
In one clip, a man states his name. He says he is Joshua Eyong from the council unit. He shows his service ID to the youths. He does not argue with what they allege.
Leaders list harm and lay strict rules
Youth President Owhonda Chamberlain explains the tough stance. He says drug use made youths sell their homes. He says some take drugs worth three million naira. They then sell a house for four million naira. The dealer gives them one million back in cash. “No more dealers here,” Chamberlain adds in a stern tone. “If you must take drugs, do it in hotels.” He says the move will guard young lives now.
The group says many homes lost cash and goods. Parents, they add, now fear for their kids. They also claim some youths now sleep on the streets. The drive, they say, will last till drugs stop.
