Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye Reunion happened, but the memories and highlights that emanated from it leave some dashing feelings on the Housemates, as well as the viewers and lovers of the top-trending Nigeria’s reality television show.
Premiered on the 2nd day of June, 2022, (exactly 8 months after the Shine Ya Eye show), the Shine Ya Eye Reunion aired from the premiere day till Friday, 17th June, inarguably making it two weeks the show displayed on the viewers’ TV screens.
The BBNaija show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who presided over the Reunion ceaselessly bombarded the Housemates with so many questions, and challenges, leaving the Housemates with few, but unimaginable threat at each other, as they recount good memories, reveal, and resolve the issues between themselves.
However, ValidUpdates has made a list of ten(10) major, irrefutable highlights from the just concluded Reunion, for the season 6 Shine Ya Eye Big Brother Naija reality television show.
1. Angel and Maria squabble
The Housemates revisited the infamous drama that happened between two of the top female contestants of the show, Maria Benjamin Chike and her colleague, Angel Agnes Smith. While at it, it could be recalled that the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu played a clip to reminisce on what Maria said about Angel in the House.
And as Maria tried to state reason she made the demeaning remarks about Angel’s sexually-induced lifestyle in the House, she opined that it was just her opinion about Angel and nothing more. Angel equally made it clear to Maria that even as she had those words to say about her, she’s not a saint herself, and she doesn’t have sense.
Picking up from there, Angel continued to lash out at Maria, reminding her of snatching fellow woman’s husband. But Maria didn’t rest, as she equally disclosed what Angel did with her own married man in Dubai.
2. Let go and make peace
Boma and Angel were the first set of Housemates to make peace with each other at the Reunion, following the discussion about the fallout between them in the Biggie’s House.
Angel recounted the sort of insults Boma rained on her during their fight, which led to him cursing and insulting Angel’s parents. But at the end of the day, Boma accepted his mistakes and apologized, letting Angel understand that he didn’t mean to hurt her or say anything bad about her family.
3. Boma’s Insistence
Ebuka raised the topic about the incident where Queen alleged that Boma told some of the Housemates that Tega’s private part smells like fish. Boma, at the Reunion stood his ground that he never told Pere or anyone such thing.
Besides, Boma tried to let everyone know that the incident happened during the question game in the House, where each Housemates go clockwise to ask each other any question that comes to mind.
Boma thinks since the question is going clockwise, there’s no way he could have gone anticlockwise to tell Pere about Tega’s private part.
4. The red flag
Well, the relationship between Jackie B and her bestie, Michael finally came to an end, to the amazement of their supporters who think they would take it to the next level.
Micheal, during the Reunion, didn’t give a genuine, clear answer when asked by Ebuka if he and Jackie B still had a thing with each other. And Michael’s answer which lacked straightforwardness struck Jackie B, who believed they had stuff together.
In the end, the lovebirds both confirmed that they were just trying to explore the relationship, but unfortunately, it couldn’t work for both of them, going forward.
5. The disappointed Telemundo actor
Yousef made a surprising confession that if Angel had given him back the energy he gave to her in the House, both of them would have become a force never to reckon with.
When asked about his affection for Angel at the time, Yousef confirmed that the vibe he had with Angel made him want to surrender 80 percent to her, waiting for her to give him back the remaining 20 percent, but as Universe may have it, Angel’s lifestyle as at then, had no remorse.
6. Broken and shattered hearts
Emmanuel and Liquorose took over the spotlight during the Shine Ya Eye Reunion with their unimaginable revelation about what happened to their relationship. Not many viewers could say they missed the Liquorose’s narration on how she walked into Emmanuel and a girl in a room in Dubai.
Feeling very shattered, Liquorose made it clear that at the time Emmanuel cheated, they were trying to build up the relationship, without knowing that Emmanuel had the motive of just being in the spotlight and making people see them as lovers.
They equally confirmed that after the Dubai incident, which according to Liquorose, happened in November 2021, they agreed never to let anyone know, but Emmanuel became the scape goat. But at the moment, nothing like EmmaRose relationship again.
7. The real lovebirds
We all can agree that Saga and Nini seem to be the only Housemates with the real vibe about what they have for each other. And seeing the de facto interpretation in Saga’s words at the Reunion, saying that he never planned to cross Nini’s boundary, knowing fully well she claimed to have a boyfriend outside the House.
It could be recalled that Nini in turn made it clear that she and Saga agreed to just care for each and vibe. Like, to keep each other company at all time, while maintaining boundaries.
However, the lovebirds didn’t wish to reveal if their relationship at the moment, is intact or not, but for a fact, they chose to remain silent about it.
8. The hidden truth
Recall that outside the House, Cross and Angel made it seem like they’re both going to continue with what they started in the Big Brother Naija House. Cross and Angel were into each other to the point that Angel had to give Cross the needed energy and vibe. But something happened along the way.
Angel had it to reveal that while she worked hard to see the relationship go forward, Cross was there making it seem like he doesn’t care. Angel noted that Cross never wanted to reciprocate the energy and vibe she gives him all the time.
Cross on the other unveiled that he tried his best but it’s obvious it wasn’t enough for Angel. Besides, he never wanted anything public, because he wouldn’t want any interference from supporters, ‘the shippers’.
At the end of the day, it wasn’t a mean to an end for the both of them, as they declared that nothing was going to happen between them ever again.
9. Never a thing between us
Jaypaul and Saskay got everyone giggling to the fact that the former couldn’t imagine the latter coming out of the House to say, “Who’s Jaypaul”, despite the undeniable affection he showed her in the Big Brother Naija House.
Not what Saskay wanted to talk about. She was just out of the House to focus and make her money, pay bills, cater for her family. She was never out of the House to let anything love or relationship distract her.
So, she insisted at the Reunion that there was never a thing existing between her and Jaypaul, but she’s very appreciative of the fact that Jaypaul did all that just to win her love. Same as Angel and Cross, there will never be an answerable question to what Saskay and Jaypaul have together, because none exists.
10. Consented affair
Despite the fact that Boma and Tega couldn’t be sincere about what happened between them in the House, the viewers during the Reunion believe they actually did something under the duvet, because Boma said he knew what none of the Housemates knew about, which was that Tega and the husband separated before she made it the Biggie’s House.
In other words, Boma and Tega had each other’s consents before stepping forward to enjoy coitus under the duvet.
Nevertheless, it was cruise for them. And the situation, as they all interpreted it made it appear like no one cared about the meaning to their interpretation. At that, it was two consented adults having a consented affair on the national television.

Housemates outside the Biggie’s House
Shine Ya Eye stars, as they’re all referred to finally met each other outside the House, and continued to harbour the perspective that they’re of similar individuality but living a separate focused life, with ups and downs unavoidable.
