Airport seizures follow targeted checks
On Tuesday 7 October, officers flagged a carton at MMIA. It held 15 skunk parcels inside ten rechargeable bulbs. Cargo agent Boladale Riliwan was arrested for Congo routing.
On Thursday 16 October, courier screening flagged a parcel to America. Inspectors uncovered 810 bromazepam tablets hidden inside female clothes. They blocked the shipment before export processing began.
Road checkpoint uncovers pills haul
On Sunday 12 October, a checkpoint team stopped a car. They found 38,270 tramadol pills hidden in tyre and panels. NDLEA said the driver came from Benin Republic towards Yola.
On Sunday 12 October, officers detained a UK-based public health assistant. They found 2,300 tramadol 225mg pills inside a pack of frozen snails. She was set to fly to Manchester on Qatar Airways.
Babafemi urged exporters to follow rules and avoid risky tactics. He said checks now combine intelligence and random screening at key points. He warned that concealment devices will not beat routine scrutiny.
NDLEA added that all seized items would face court disposal. The suspects will be charged after ongoing case reviews conclude. The agency promised updates when prosecution steps begin.
