The global pandemic changed the plans of countless entertainers worldwide. Singer Sadiq Onifade recently discussed the sudden events that shifted his life.

The Afrobeat star shared his story on The Afropolitan Podcast. On August 25, 2026, he explained his quick exit from Europe. He described the exact moment travel bans forced him to choose between continents.

Sudden Travel Restrictions

Onifade found himself stuck in Germany as countries closed their borders. The singer rushed to complete his studio session before a total shutdown occurred.

”And I was actually in Berlin filming callers My colors I don’t know if you ever saw that I saw I was filming that right right when everything was shutting down Like it was only three people in the entire colors building So I had three people and then that received us me and my team to film my session,” the artist explained.

A strict policy change from the United States government worsened the crisis. Former President Donald Trump suspended incoming flights from Europe. This directive forced the musician to change his travel plans to West Africa instead.

”And um Trump was like ‘Oh you can’t no flights can come in from no flights can come in from the from Europe back to America.’ and Nigeria was the way I was like if anything’s going to happen in the world right now let me go build my family my mom and you know everyone and just and that transitioned me um back to to Nigeria,” he noted.

New Recording Setup

The relocation gave the entertainer a rare chance to reconnect with relatives. He then made a major financial choice to support his craft.

”And then prior to that we would only see each other like once a year One of the best decisions I did personally was I traded like bringing bringing in more clothes clothing clothing from the US to have like my home recording setup We couldn’t go outside because you couldn’t go outside right but I could create every day,” he stated.
