The former music boss refuses to testify against the man accused of killing Tupac Shakur

The long-awaited murder trial for the death of Tupac Shakur faces a massive roadblock. Former music executive Suge Knight refuses to take the stand against suspected gang leader Duane Davis.
On August 4, 2026, Knight spoke to ABC News from a prison facility. He firmly denied any willingness to participate in the high-profile court case. Jury selection began this week in Las Vegas without his cooperation.
”This trial has nothing to do with me and if somebody brings me there, it’s gonna hurt whoever brings me there. I promise you that.” Knight warned reporters during the interview.
”Leave me out of it.” The executive firmly declared.
The Las Vegas casino dispute
The ongoing trial traces back to a violent night at the MGM Grand Casino on September 7, 1996. Shakur and Death Row members attacked suspected shooter Orlando Anderson after a Mike Tyson fight.
Investigators claim Davis provided the gun used to kill the famous rapper. This fatal drive-by shooting served as direct revenge for the casino fight. Police finally arrested Davis in 2023 after years of public confessions.
Davis previously admitted his role in the crime during interviews and inside his memoir. However, the suspect recently pleaded not guilty and claimed he fabricated the entire story.
Prison warnings and rejections
The former executive currently serves a 28-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter. He committed a fatal hit-and-run on the set of the film Straight Outta Compton in 2015. He wants authorities to handle the current case without his input.
Recent photos show Knight wearing an orange Los Angeles County Jail uniform. He sports a thick grey beard and dark glasses in the viral images.
Vintage pictures also highlight the close bond between the two music icons. One historic photo shows them walking together in the nineties. Knight believes Davis provided enough evidence to convict himself.
”Everything he said and talked about, he already told on himself.” The music boss noted.
”So what are you going to do? Erase all the recordings of the interviews he did?” Knight asked the network.
