Nigerian chef from Ondo State, by name Adeola Adeyeye who identifies herself as Chef Deo has kicked off a cooking marathon seeking to break a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Chef Deo stated that she intends to cook for as long as 150 hours to attain this new record. And this is just a few weeks after Chef Hilda Baci was verified by Guinness as the current holder of the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Hilda Baci attempted 100 hours cook-a-thon to beat the previous holder, an Indian named Lata Tondon whose record of 87 hours 45 minutes cooking marathon dated 2019.
Following a thorough review of all the evidence submitted by Hilda, Guinness World Records confirmed that Chef Hilda officially broke the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes. This means that roughly 7 hours were deducted from her time as a penalty for mistakenly taking extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.
However, taking to her Instagram page, Chef Deo announced through a video that she is starting her cooking marathon on Friday, June 30 at TMF Lounge and Bar, Ile Oluji, Ondo State and she aims for 150 hours of nonstop cooking.
Meanwhile, some reactions have made it online criticizing the rate at which some Nigerian chefs want to break the cooking record which was broken less than two months ago by Chef Hilda.
Suggestions and advice were made concerning this, and it clearly states that Hilda should be allowed to enjoy her record for at least one year before anyone attempts to break it. Nonetheless, there are many other records to break which must not involve cooking.
