South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Nigeria’s ex-minister of finance and Coordinator of economy, as Head of the country’s Economic Advisory Council.
In a statement published on it’s website, the council which is chaired by Cyril Ramaphosa will be responsible in ensuring greater coherence and consistency in the implementation of economic policy, and as well ensure that government and society in general is better equipped to respond to changing economic circumstances.
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has held many international positions, including her present position as the Board Chair of Gavi, a two-time Nigerian Minister of Finance, and former Managing Director of Operations, World Bank.
However, congratulations have started pouring in as Senator Ben Murray-Bruce shared a congratulatory tweet on his micro-blogging page.
Congratulations @NOIweala on your appointment by President @CyrilRamaphosa. Your exceptional ability during your active service in Nigeria remains a currency that will never lose its value. I wish you even more success in your new role as Member of SA’s Economic Advisory Council.
