The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo has disclosed that the state is making arrangements ahead for candidates preparing for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to be taught some core subjects via radio and television, as the State government recently announced a shutdown of schools across the state including private and public secondary schools.
In an interview, the commissioner explained that teachers would pre-record lessons in eight subjects for broadcast on radio, television and online. The core subjects are: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature-In-English, Financial Accounting and Economics.
Folashade advised public and private schools to comply with the closure of schools in the state.
She added:”You know in our classes there are lots of children and children will always play with each other. So it is to protect our children; we agreed that all schools should just shutdown“.
