In a remarkable display of endurance and dedication, Oside Oluwole, a 24-year-old Nigerian biochemist and auto dealer, has shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous videogame marathon.
Oluwole, fondly known as “Khoded”, managed to play a soccer videogame for an astonishing 75 hours, surpassing the previous record of 50 hours set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022.
The Guinness World Records (GWR) organization officially recognized Oluwole’s feat, with a post on their social media channels celebrating his achievement. According to GWR, Oluwole’s record-breaking performance is particularly impressive, as it surpasses the previous record by a significant margin.
“Before no one in the past has broken this record by such a large margin as Oside has,” the GWR announcement read. “It was first set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and gradually increased to 50 hours after being beaten seven times in 11 years.”
Oluwole, a biochemist by training and an auto dealer by profession, embarked on the marathon gaming challenge with a noble purpose in mind. He aimed to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown of Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria, showcasing his commitment to using his talents and passions to make a positive impact on his community.
The record-breaking attempt was no easy feat. Oluwole had to maintain laser-like focus and unwavering determination to play the soccer videogame continuously for over three days, with only brief breaks for necessary activities like hydration and restroom visits.

“It was an incredibly grueling and mentally taxing experience,” Oluwole said in an interview. “There were moments where I felt like giving up, but the thought of raising funds for the hospital kept me going. I’m honored to have set this new world record and to be able to contribute to a worthy cause.”
Oluwole’s achievement has not only earned him a spot in the prestigious Guinness World Records but has also inspired others in his community and around the world. His story is a testament to the power of determination, passion, and the ability to turn one’s talents into a force for good.
As the new world record holder, Oluwole’s name will be etched in the annals of gaming history, solidifying his place as a true trailblazer in the world of competitive videogaming.
