In a candid exchange on the social media platform X, Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has revealed why he is not interested in getting married or starting a family anytime soon. The 33-year-old singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, cited the ongoing public drama surrounding his fellow musician Davido’s personal life as a primary factor in his decision.

The conversation was sparked when Burna Boy made a cryptic post on his X page, simply stating “Odogwu too wise who no hear go FEEL.” One of his followers, @badlieutanant, then urged the singer to consider following in Davido’s footsteps and get married, arguing that Burna Boy is not getting any younger.

“Burna Boy, you should start planning for your future by getting married and starting a family. OBO [Davido] has already set an example. You’re over 33 now, and you need to understand that you’re not getting any younger,” the follower commented.

In his response, Burna Boy made it clear that he has no desire to walk down the aisle anytime soon, expressing his reluctance to face the same challenges that Davido has been navigating in his personal life, particularly the “baby mama saga.”

“Baba make I just dey as I dey abeg, u nor see wetin him dey face like dis?” Burna Boy replied, which translates to “Father, let me just be as I am, don’t you see what he’s [Davido] facing like this?”

Another follower, @sunofoba, suggested that Burna Boy could look to fellow musician Adekunle Gold’s peaceful marriage as a model for the type of union he should consider. Burna Boy seemed to agree, stating that Adekunle Gold’s relationship is the kind of marriage he hopes to have one day.

“Ehen! Na wetin we dey pray for be that, bros,” Burna Boy responded, which means “That’s exactly the kind of thing we’re praying for, brother.”

The singer’s reluctance to follow in the footsteps of his contemporaries like Davido appears to be rooted in a desire to avoid the public scrutiny and personal challenges that often come with high-profile relationships and family dynamics in the entertainment industry.
