Burna Boy earns highest Grammy nominations among Nigerian superstar nominees

Nigerian Grammy award-winning star Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy received the highest Grammy nominations amongst his Nigerian counterparts.

Burna Boy earned a whopping four nominations at the 2024 Grammy nomination ceremony held today, Friday, November  10.

This leaves Burna Boy as the first Nigerian artist to be nominated in the major category at the Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy’s nominations include;

— “Sittin On Top Of The World” for Best Melodic Rap Performance 

— “I Told Them…” for Best Global Music Album 

— “Alone” for Best Global Music Performance

— “City Boys” for Best African Music Performance

Following the Grammy Nominees list, Afropop singer Davido earned three nominations.

Davido was nominated in three categories. His two songs “Unavailable” and “Feel” from the recent album Timeless made it to the categories. “FEEL” for Best Global Music Performance, “UNAVAILABLE” for Best African Performance, and Timeless’ for Best Global Album.

Other Nigerian stars who made it to the nominees list include; Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr each earning one nomination.
