On August 9, 2026, popular comedian Anita Asuoha cancelled her upcoming show in Delta State. She blamed deep tribal divisions for her tough choice.

She planned to host the event at the Monarch Event Center on September 28. However, local host groups rejected her event title. They demanded a total name change before the show could hold.

Facing Local Threats

The comedian shared a sad video to explain the sudden change. She noted that being an entertainer from the state feels very tiring right now.

”The disunity in my state is very tiring, especially amongst the Ijaws, the Urhobos, the Itsekiris. I am not saying don’t fight for what is right but does it have to always be violent? Does it have to be oppression? I have been a victim of bullying and oppression in Delta state for the past eight years. I don’t know it all. Growing up, everywhere was called Warri. Now things are changing, people are reclaiming their lands. Its okay… but why do you have to bring me down because I made a mistake,” Asuoha stated.

People in Uvwie told her to remove Warri from her public ads. They insisted she use the name Uvwie instead of Warri. Some angry residents even promised to scatter the venue on the event day.

”They said I should take down the billboards, social media posts, the radio gingles, take down the rollup banners, they wrote a petition. They said the show will never hold and that the day of the show they will come and scatter everything. Some other set are saying, Even the Warri in my name I should remove it,” the comedian explained.

Eight Years Of Pain

Asuoha claimed she has faced harsh treatment in the state for eight long years. She begged angry groups to stop using violent ways to claim their lands.

Some critics also told her to drop Warri from her stage name. The entire fight over tribal names has drained her energy completely. She stated clearly that she is done and wants to avoid more mistakes.
