Rumours of a rift had been building for days. Fans noticed the couple had unfollowed each other on social media, and cryptic posts from Ogbodo and her sister only added to the speculation. The actress finally addressed it head-on.

She defends a woman’s right to walk away

In her post, Ogbodo questioned why a tired wife is treated differently from a tired husband. She argued that fatigue in marriage should not be seen as taboo just because a woman is the one who feels it.

She referred to her husband as “the princess” in the relationship and said she had given eight years of her life to it. “My tayad is tayad,” she wrote, asking what was wrong with a woman wanting to be happy.

Her sister backs her up

Ogbodo’s sister, Sochima, also posted claims about Maris, describing him as unsupportive of the household and accusing him of provoking Ogbodo during arguments. Maris has not publicly responded to the allegations.

Fans react online

The posts drew heavy reaction, with some Nigerians defending Ogbodo’s right to leave and others mocking the couple’s public fallout.

Ogbodo and Maris held a traditional wedding in Imo State in January 2023. In a later post, Ogbodo said she had been overwhelmed by romantic attention in her DMs since news of the split broke.
