Nigerian singer Peter Okoye angrily responds to a fan questioning his children speaking Igbo
Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has strongly rebuked a critic who questioned his children’s ability to speak Igbo. The exchange began after Okoye praised his kids for speaking French fluently in Paris. He dismissed the follower, urging Nigerians to focus on national issues.

Nigerian music veteran Peter Okoye recently faced harsh questions online. The drama started over his children speaking foreign languages.
Okoye shared a post about his current trip to Paris. He noted how easily his children spoke French. The singer even considered buying a house in the city.
”Still in Paris! Watching my kids speak French so effortlessly makes me think… maybe it’s time to own a crib here in Paris. Just a thought.” he wrote.
The Online Clash
A follower named Don buddy replied to the initial post. The user asked if the children could speak Igbo too.
”Hope they can speak Igbo, too?” the follower asked.
Okoye immediately fired back at the intrusive question. He asked how the local language would help them. The star then told the critic to remain quiet.
”And who naija language help? Make I hear word abeg.” Okoye replied.
The musician did not stop at his first reply. He told the critic to mind their personal business.
”I’ve got just three words for you: MYB” Mind Your Business. Go and find someone else to pour your frustration on. Not here. Yen yen yen yen yen…” he declared.
Defending Family Choices
Okoye advised the user to find someone else to bother. He stated that his family was doing perfectly fine. He dared the critic to teach their own kids.
”When it’s your turn, teach your own kids all the languages in Nigeria if that’s your choice. As for me and my family, we’re good. Go and find another place to pour your frustration.” the singer wrote.
The pop star questioned the critic’s strange motives. He wondered how his children speaking Nigerian languages helped anyone.
”Again, what exactly do you stand to gain if my children speak Nigerian languages? How does that improve your life? MYB” Mind Your Business. Cry harder” he asked.
Okoye then turned his attention to wider national problems. He expressed shock that people prioritize language over real issues. The star noted that Nigeria faces many serious challenges today.
”With everything going on in Nigeria, your biggest concern is whether my children speak Nigerian languages? Out of all the real issues facing the country, this is what keeps you awake? Una never ready for our country. Ndi nchu” the artist stated.
Highlighting Real Issues
He called out the hypocrisy of his online critics. Okoye claimed these people would quickly move abroad if possible.
”Meanwhile, many of the same people criticizing me would jump at the chance to get foreign citizenship or raise their own children abroad if they had the opportunity.” he noted.
The singer ended his rant with a final clear message. He urged Nigerians to focus on their own actual struggles. Okoye demanded that people let others raise families freely.
”With everything going on in Nigeria, your biggest concern is whether my children speak Nigerian languages? Focus on the real issues and let people raise their families the way they choose. Ndi ala” the star concluded.
