Former Big Brother Naija housemate Ike Onyema has expressed regret over his strategy during the reality show. He admitted that focusing solely on tasks cost him the grand prize. He also stated that Nigeria offers better business opportunities for entrepreneurs than the United States.

Reality television star Ike Onyema has shared new insights about his time on Big Brother Naija. He revealed his biggest mistakes inside the famous house during a recent podcast interview.
The former housemate admitted that he misunderstood the show dynamics during his first appearance. He focused heavily on physical tasks rather than emotional connections with the audience.

Onyema reflected on his approach to the competition while speaking with IK Osakioduwa on Kaptain Jeff TV. He explained that winning challenges was not enough to secure the ultimate prize.
”I regret not crying. If I knew what the show is, guy, I’ll be in that house doing emotional this, crying up and down. But I thought if I go in there, win all my challenges and do gragra, that I’ll win the money.” he said.
The reality star also revealed his total financial returns from his first stint on the show. Despite winning several sponsored tasks, his payout remained modest.
”The first time, I can’t remember, but it shouldn’t be more than ₦4 million. It should be ₦3 point something million.” he said.
Onyema also addressed his past relationship inside the house. He maintained that his feelings were genuine rather than a calculated game plan.
”For me, na normal relationship. I’m not so relationship person. I’m focused on business. I enjoyed it for the time that it lasted. The only thing I would change is I would try different ways to win that money.” he said.
Business freedom in Nigeria versus the United States
Onyema discussed his decision to relocate from the United States to Nigeria. He noted that while life in America has its perks, Nigeria provides greater flexibility for business owners.
He believes that Nigerian markets offer faster growth opportunities for ambitious individuals. He emphasized that red tape in the US often slows down small enterprise development.
However, Onyema acknowledged making several financial missteps after gaining fame. He confessed to spending excessive funds on luxury stylists, expensive photo sessions, and poor business investments.
