Nigerian singer Kcee (Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo) has broken silence on rumours. The singer addressed talk of a rift with Flavour (Chinedu Okoli). He spoke during a new interview on Lagos station Yanga FM.

For years, fans believed both stars had gone their separate ways. Kcee said stories grew as he kept quiet and focused on work. He said even a recent Kcee family throwback joke post did not change minds.
Kcee traced the story back to music boss Soso Soberekon. He recalled Soso bringing a young Flavour for a record deal. The plan was for Kcee to sign him under his label circle.
Why Kcee turned down Flavour deal
Kcee said he was already living large then. He mentioned driving big cars and enjoying shows across Nigeria. In his words, he laughed, “I was a big boy.”
Despite the meeting, he chose not to sign Flavour then. He said he simply did not see where things would go. According to him, the choice came from doubt, not hatred.
Kcee stated that time has proved every person has their path. He praised Flavour’s later success and strong brand in highlife music. He stressed that he holds no grudge over the old offer.
Singer disputes talk of deep rift
Kcee also spoke on his earlier outburst about culture custodians online. He had dragged unnamed colleagues who, he felt, guarded culture like property. Some fans linked that rant to Flavour, who also works in highlife.
Kcee denied that the main issue came from the rejected deal. He believes talk of beef grew from pride and ranking among singers. He cited the Flavour blank cheque Afroculture video as proof both men stay busy.
The singer said many colleagues quietly rate themselves above him. He argued that some see him as soft because he rarely brags. In his words, “They underrate me because I do not shout.”
Kcee felt these views made small issues look like heavy fights. He said fans join sides online, even when artistes still greet privately. He urged listeners to stop pushing stories that paint full enemies.
Kcee insists he paved his own way
Looking back, Kcee reminded people that his career started long ago. He said he was already on charts before Flavour moved to Lagos. He had cars, houses and steady shows before that crossover.
He mentioned his days with Five Star Music and many hit singles. Those years, he said, built the base that still feeds him today. He believes people forget this history because he rarely shares throwback wins.
Kcee added that some once wrote him off as finished. He kept dropping songs and touring, even when praise felt small. He said rising again shocked people who had planned his decline.
Despite everything, Kcee wished Flavour well and called him a strong act. He said a joint song or show could still happen someday. For him, good music matters more than past talk or pride.
He also pointed out how big names attract many side stories. He referenced cases like the fake Flavour tribute show dispute, saying fame brings confusion. In his view, fans should confirm facts before joining online wars.
Fans have already reacted to the interview clip on social media. Many praised him for speaking plainly, while others still backed Flavour. Some simply begged both stars to share a live highlife set.
Kcee ended by saying only time will fully settle the talk. For now, he wants his story heard and his work respected. He left the door open, hinting that time may still unite both camps.
