Lagos council manager dies, forum confirms burial plans today

Lagos has lost yet another key council voice today. Mrs Adebimpe Akintola died after a brief illness. She served as Council Manager for Coker Aguda LCDA. She also led the Forum of Council Managers statewide.

The forum broke the sad news late on Monday. Members said they submit to Allah’s will in grief. They named her as their chair until her death. The forum said she passed this afternoon on Monday.

Janazah plans and burial details in Lagos

She died on Monday afternoon, 29 September 2025. She worked at Coker Aguda LCDA until her death. Council Managers serve as heads of the councils’ admin work. They act as accounting officers across local areas.

Burial will hold on Tuesday, 30 September, in line with rites. Janazah prayers hold after Zuhr at Al Kitab Mosque. The mosque sits on Abosede Onamade Street, Eleshin. Prayers start around 1:00 p.m. after the Zuhr call.

Interment follows at Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara. Interment is set for 2:00 p.m. at the site. Lagos has 20 councils and 37 LCDAs in total. Akintola guided peers on rules, funds, due checks. Recent grief also hit business after Lagos fire staff deaths. Families across the city still seek calm today.

Fifth female council death in two months

Her death brings a grim count to five now. Since July 27, new councils took seats across Lagos. Losses have hit four other women in that time. Each served key wards or led at the local level.

Oluwakemi Rufai, Ward C, Ibeju Lekki, died on 13 August. Zainab Shotayo, Ward C, Odiolowo Ojuwoye, died on 18 August. Princess Oluremi Ajose, Badagry West vice chair, died 20 September. Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan, Ward F, Somolu, died 21 September.

The state faces tough days with Lagos Trade Fair demolitions. Many residents still feel loss and strain this month.
