Popular activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has stirred fresh debate after claiming Naira Marley was once bigger than Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
He made the bold statement in a recent TikTok video while addressing the dangers of cancel culture in the Nigerian music scene.
“Naira Marley was the biggest” — VDM
According to VDM, Naira Marley’s fanbase, known as Marlians, was the largest in the country before the singer’s fall.
He said, “Naira Marley was bigger than Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido. He had a very large fanbase both in Nigeria and abroad until this Mohbad issue. The music industry is so dark. The jealousy in the industry is too much.”
VDM warns about cancel culture
VDM argued that the Mohbad case ruined Naira Marley’s career and called on authorities to close investigations quickly.
He urged, “The case needs to end so people can move on.”
The activist noted that the longer the case drags, the harder it will be for Naira Marley to recover from the backlash.

This comes weeks after VeryDarkMan reignited his call for justice for Mohbad, saying he now had more followers, influence and money to fight the case.
