Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has opened up about a shift in her dating choices. The 44-year-old revealed she no longer wants to be with men who earn less than her.
Speaking in a candid interview with British media host Zeze Mills, Tiwa admitted she had dated “down” in the past. She explained that she once believed love was enough, even if the man had little money.

The Koroba hitmaker said she is now ready to set a higher standard for herself.
“I used to make mistake dating down saying I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love. But now, I think I need someone that just has money,” she stated.
She added, “I think I’m at that point now. Love is really nice but you can judge me for wanting a wealthier person if you want.”
Ready to try something new
Tiwa explained that she has spent many years trying to make love work with men who were not financially strong. However, she now wants to see what dating a rich man feels like.
“I want to try that. I have tried the other way for so many years. Let me try what it’s like dating a wealthy man,” she said.
Her past marriage and son
ValidUpdates recalls that Tiwa Savage married her former manager Tunji Balogun, known as Teebillz, in 2013. Their union ended in 2018 after several failed attempts to reconcile.
The marriage produced their son, Jamil Balogun, who remains Tiwa’s greatest priority and source of joy.
