Zinoleesky Opens Up About His Tough Music Journey
Afrobeats star Zinoleesky has shared how far he went to chase his dream in music. The singer said he once ran away from home because his parents didn’t support his career choice.
During a chat with SB Live, Zinoleesky explained that many Nigerian parents want their kids to study professional courses or learn a trade. But he had other plans.

“Nigerian parents are always in denial whenever you want to do stuff like music,” he said. “They want you to do a professional course or learn a trade. So, you just have to find a way. Me, I did some cr*zy stuff. I ran away from home to do music.”
He Began As A Rapper Before Fame Came
Zinoleesky, real name Oniyide Azeez, said his journey into music began with rap. Over time, he shifted into singing, which eventually brought him fame.
He first gained attention in 2017 after videos of his freestyle performances went viral on social media. His talent and street appeal quickly won fans over, making him a rising star to watch.
Why He Chose Marlian Music Over DMW
At one point, there were rumours that Zinoleesky turned down a deal with Davido’s label, DMW. However, he later joined Naira Marley’s Marlian Music in December 2019.
That move turned out to be a game changer. His debut EP Chrome Eccentric featured songs like Ma Pariwo and Kilofeshe, which became huge hits.
Since then, Zinoleesky has kept building his fanbase with more catchy tracks and performances. He now stands as one of the most promising young names in Afrobeats.
