The Bayelsa Star Still Got It
Timaya, whose real name is Inetimi Alfred Odon, began his solo music career in 2005. His debut single, Dem Mama, told the painful story of the Odi massacre in his hometown, Bayelsa State.
That powerful track set the tone for what would become a long and successful career.
In 2006, he followed up with his first album True Story. It became a massive hit and made him a household name across Nigeria and beyond.
Since then, he has dropped eight albums, one EP, and many chart-topping singles. Over the last 20 years, Timaya has remained consistent, with fans across generations still vibing to his sound.
Int mmernational Vibes and Legacy
Beyond Nigeria, Timaya has worked with some of the world’s top music stars. He has collaborated with Jamaican dancehall legend Sean Paul and reggae group Morgan Heritage, among others.
Even while taking a break, his past hits continue to trend online. From “Bum Bum” to “I Can’t Kill Myself”, Timaya’s songs still pull massive streams on digital platforms.
Many fans are now hopeful that his “nap” is over and that new music might be on the way soon.
2Face Once Said the Same
Interestingly, music icon 2Face Idibia once made a similar remark about monogamy and retirement from certain expectations. Speaking in an interview, 2Face said, “I’m not going to lie to myself. I can’t be with only one woman sexually.”
This kind of honesty mirrors Timaya’s casual tone and reminds fans that these stars are just being real
