Rashee Rice Faces Consequences After 2024 Crash

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has officially been sentenced for his involvement in a wild car crash earlier this year.

On Thursday, July 18, Rice pleaded guilty to two serious charges. These include racing on a highway and causing injury, as well as fleeing after a crash that seriously hurt others.

In return for the guilty plea, a Dallas County judge handed him five years of probation. But that’s not all. The 25-year-old athlete will also spend 30 days behind bars in a Dallas County jail.

Victims To Receive Over $114K In Compensation

Along with his sentence, Rice will pay restitution to those hurt in the crash. Prosecutors confirmed that the total amount is $114,481.91.

The crash happened on March 30, 2024, in Dallas. Rice had been driving a black 2020 Lamborghini Urus. He reportedly reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour before losing control.

Several cars were involved in the wreck. Shockingly, Rice fled the scene on foot instead of checking on the victims.

Rashee Speaks Out With Apology

After the judge made the decision, Rice issued a heartfelt apology.

He said, “Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas. There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused.”

Rice added that he’ll continue to do everything he can to make things right for everyone affected.

He also warned others about speeding, saying, “I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart.”

“Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property. I fully apologise for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”

District Attorney Issues Strong Words

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot also addressed the situation in court.

He said, “When someone with Mr. Rice’s public platform chooses to drive so recklessly, there is a responsibility to acknowledge the danger posed to others and take accountability.”

Creuzot added, “A vehicle in the wrong hands can be as dangerous as any weapon. We are extremely fortunate that no lives were lost that day.”

The DA ended with a word of hope, saying he hopes Rice grows from this and sets a better example in the future.

NFL Awaits Final Call

The NFL has not yet announced its own punishment. However, trusted sports insider Adam Schefter reports that a decision is expected soon.

For now, Rashee Rice will begin serving his sentence while awaiting further action from the league.
