- Streaming farms and fake music stats continue to raise concern
Iyanya Takes a Stand Against Mediocrity in Music
Popular Nigerian singer Iyanya has dropped a bold message for the music industry. He believes the era of fake and talentless artists dominating the scene is coming to an end.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) page, the ‘Kukere’ crooner shared his honest view. He said, “At the end of the day, we will separate the wack artists from the real ones.”
The singer seemed to be reacting to ongoing issues in the Nigerian music space. These include the growing use of auto-tune, heavy reliance on ghostwriters, and fake streaming numbers.
Fake Streams and Glorified Mediocrity in Focus
In recent times, music fans and insiders have raised alarms about artists boosting their numbers with fake streams. Many believe this cheats the system and hides real talent.
Rappers like Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck have openly voiced their concerns. They claimed that “streaming farms” — paid services used to inflate plays — are ruining the true art of music.
While some deny using these tactics, the accusations haven’t gone away. Music executive Don Jazzy once addressed such claims, saying he does not use “fake streams” to help Mavin Records artists chart online.
Shallipopi and Others Deny Involvement
Rising star Shallipopi also faced questions about his sudden success. He was accused of spending N9 million to buy fake streams, but he quickly denied it.
Still, many Nigerians remain worried that true talent may be getting lost. With platforms favouring numbers over quality, real musicians often get pushed aside.
However, Iyanya remains hopeful. According to him, the truth will come out, and only talented artists will survive.
