In a significant turn of events, the lyric notebook belonging to one of hip-hop’s legendary figures, Lil Wayne, is officially up for sale.

This rare artefact, featuring handwritten song notes from the 1990s, comes with an eye-watering price tag of $5 million.

A Priceless Piece of Hip-Hop History

TMZ recently disclosed that the iconic rapper’s notebook, which initially hit the market five years ago for a mere $250,000, has now been relisted with a substantially higher asking price.

The sale is being managed by Moments in Time, a company specializing in high-profile memorabilia. They defended the substantial markup, stating that Lil Wayne’s stature in the music industry justifies the notebook’s value.

According to them, the extensive hike in price reflects the immense cultural and historical significance of the rapper’s handwritten lyrics.

This isn’t just a pricey piece of paper; it represents a pivotal era in Lil Wayne’s career. For fans and collectors, owning this notebook means possessing a part of music history.

The handwritten lyrics offer an intimate glimpse into the creative process of one of the greatest rappers of all time.

However, getting this notebook on the market wasn’t a smooth path. In 2019, Moments in Time made headlines when they initially attempted to sell the notebook.

The notebook was claimed to have been found by an individual who discovered it in a vehicle that once belonged to Cash Money Records. This discovery led to a heated legal battle over ownership.

Through his attorneys, Lil Wayne demanded the return of his notebook, sending a cease and desist letter to Moments in Time.

They argued that the company had no legal right to sell the rapper’s intellectual property and accused the finder of opportunism and dishonesty.

The man who found the notebook countered with a “finders-keepers” argument, seeking a court ruling to declare him the rightful owner.

Despite the heated exchanges, Lil Wayne did not formally respond to the court proceedings, which ultimately resulted in a ruling against him.

After years of litigation and uncertainty, the notebook is now again available for sale. For those with deep pockets and a passion for hip-hop memorabilia, this offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a tangible piece of rap history.
