The family of the late Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has issued an appeal for anyone with relevant information about his death to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.

This call was made in light of growing concerns over sensitive information being shared publicly online, which should ideally be directed to law enforcement agencies.

Concerns Over Public Disclosure

Monisola Esther, a member of the family’s legal team, issued a statement on Monday expressing worry about how certain sensitive details related to Mohbad’s death have been disseminated over the internet. 

She emphasized that this information should be provided to the Police to aid in their investigation rather than being publicly disclosed.

“Given the nature of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba’s death and the sensitive information being released to the public space, which should have been directed to the Police, the Aloba Family’s Legal Team advises that anyone with useful and relevant information should reach out to the Police or the Legal Team. This will ensure proper and legal handling of the investigation,” Monisola stated.

Legal and Protective Measures

Monisola further mentioned that those with pertinent information should contact the Police to ensure their protection, along with the protection of potential witnesses and suspects.

The Coroner’s Inquest has already issued witness summonses to gather more crucial facts about the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s untimely demise.

“Please note that Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, is not seeking to pursue any personal vendettas. His sole interest lies in uncovering the true details of what led to his son’s death,” she added. “The Coroner’s Court is the appropriate forum for disclosing any information that could assist the court in its fact-finding mission.”

Social Media Accusations

The call from Mohbad’s family arrives shortly after a viral video circulated by Karimot, Mohbad’s sister-in-law, accused the singer’s widow, Wunmi, of being involved in his death. Karimot claimed to possess incriminatory evidence against Wunmi.

This development underscores the complexity and sensitivity surrounding the case, reinforcing the need for a thorough and legally sound investigation.
