On Saturday, rapper Cardi B clarified recent rumours surrounding her divorce filing from her estranged husband, Offset. Contrary to speculative reports, the “Press” rapper emphasized that she did not request child support.
Cardi B Sets the Record Straight
In an attempt to debunk claims that Offset had been “unsupportive” during their marriage, Cardi B took to the comments section of the Jasmine Brand’s Instagram post.
“Okay, this is getting weird because I can say he helps me a lot with my business and the kids,” she wrote. Cardi B’s comments were direct and clear, discrediting the notion that her estranged husband neglected his familial responsibilities.
She further elaborated on the matter, stating, “Never in my career, no matter what I went through, did I have friends or family go to the media. So, I don’t know who this source is going to People Magazine. Even with my filing, I’m not asking for child support; my claim is for him to only pay for the bills he already pays on the kids and the new one.”
The Divorce Filing and Custody Request
ValidUpdates reported that Cardi B, born Belcalis Almánzar, officially filed for divorce from Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, last Wednesday.
Cardi B, who is currently expecting her third child with Offset, has requested primary custody of their children: Kulture, age 6, and Wave, age 2.
An insider has revealed that the split did not result from infidelity. The couple, who secretly tied the knot in 2017, has met challenges in their relationship, but unfaithfulness was not among the reasons for their separation.
Cardi B continues to focus on her career and family, remaining vocal about her priorities and decisions amid the public reactions that accompany her high-profile divorce.
