Yesterday, being Monday, April 27, 2020, at exactly 8pm, the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari addressed the covid-19 state of the nation, updated ctizens on progress made and challenges faced so far, measures put in place to checkmate and contain the spread of the virus, lockdown extension among other Coronavirus related issues.
Meanwhile, as the speech was being delivered, thousands if not millions of Nigerians already had copies of the speech and were reading along as the president delivered his speech.
It is in this vein that popular Nigerian on-air personality, Toke Makinwa, shamed president Buhari over the recent address he gave on Covid-19.
Her anger was hinged on how the full texts of the president’s speech was able to leak to the general public even before he addressed the nation.
Taking to her official page on the microblogging platform, Twitter, in the early hours of today, she tweeted:
“I was reading along as he spoke, worse it was shared on WhatsApp, how is it even possible?
They might as well have sent it as broadcast to all our phones.”
