The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC and Dettol Nigeria, have promptly reacted to Funke Akindele-Bello‘s arrest by the Lagos State Police Command, following her violation of lockdown order in the state, by throwing an in-house birthday party for her husband, JJC Skillz.
As the most affected state in Nigeria, Lagos State Government, banned all forms of social and religious gatherings numbering above 20 persons.
However, Funke Akindele, who was recently used by Dettol Nigeria to sensitize her fans and Nigerians on international practices that can help curb the pandemic, seemed to have flouted the order by inviting a multitude of friends to her husband, JJC Skillz’ birthday party.
Funke was arrested yesterday by men of the Lagos state police command, while her husband and singer Naira Marley, who was also in attendance, have been asked to come forward for questioning.
On hearing the news of her arrest, Dettol Nigeria made a tweet in that regard, stating that as a responsible organization, it does not condone any breach of the guidelines on Covid-19 and are concerned about the turn of events. While, NCDC on its part said it has not engaged brand ambassadors as part of its response to COVID-19.
Dettol in a statement on its social media page stated that the advert with Funke Akindele was a collaboration to help NCDC educate communities about the spread of Coronavirus.
