Barely hours after Nigeria afropop music star, Burna Boy lost the Grammy Best World Music Album award to Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo, his South African rival, AKA comments.
Recall the feud between Burna Boy and AKA escalated during the September 2019 xenophobic attacks in South Africa after AKA allegedly dropped a xenophobic comment about the attacks.
Burna Boy however, vowed never to associate with AKA as a result of his comment and also stated he’s never going to visit South Africa again.
Commenting on Burna Boy’s Grammys loss, AKA stated that he never hated him. He was just standing up for his country at the time they were being accused of attacking other nationals.
He however puts it that he still consider Burna Boy a champion and winner.
He tweeted;
I never hated Burna Boy. All I did was stand up for my country. I think it’s time to move past this narrative. It’s tired. Like I said, even a nomination is a huge achievement.

What you should have done is focus on the positive instead of thinking about me and my country. In any case, Burna is still a champion. We still consider him a winner.
