Laura Ikeji, the younger sister to popular Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji shared a post on her social media page saying she never for once bleached her skin, but she gives her body some little toning.
However, she puts it that money and riches bring out one’s natural skin and of course beauty. Her post reads below;
“Funny fact is, I’ve never bleached my skin in my life. Maybe a lil toning here n there but nothing intense. Money kinda brings out ur natural skin lol. @susanchanelbeauty helps to enhance it.”
She seems right in her own words and thoughts but some social media users aren’t seeing her point of view as they took to her comment section to lash her out.
Some users disagree with her point in a way that they thought Laura tried to deceive them with the words ‘bleaching’ and ‘toning’. They feel she’s deceiving people by using a lighter and uncommon word for bleaching – toning.
Some social media users wrote;
“Toning your skin is still the same thing as lightening your skin. Different methods, same results”
“What is the difference between bleaching and toning? Nigerian women keep deceiving themselves”
“Toning is a modernized name for bleashing mami. I like your kinda bleaching though oops sorry toning”
“And who told you being fair is your your natural skin?”
“But we’ve seen your parents na… So where’s your fairness from? Abi recessive Gene from granny?”
“The same you that said you stopped using bleaching/toning cream or whatever we call it. Please remember when you talked about not using cream at a time few years ago”
Meanwhile, some users agreed to Laura’s point of view as one commenter identified as alexandra_d4th testifies to having natural skin due to her health investment.
“So true. Ever since I started investing money in my skin, exfoliating, moisturizing and constant use of sunscreen, I got fairer and I never used a lightening cream. Money does bring out our color.”
These other users precyjewel and mon_armoire_za also agreed. They replied to Laura;
“@lauraikeji ..you are right…money brings out your color biko”
“I believe her, her son’s light skinned… She definitely didn’t bleach his skin.”
Notably, one particular user identified as precyjewel64 advised Laura on the solution to looking younger if while getting old. She wrote;solution to looking younger if while getting old. She wrote;
“Try and add anti aging and anti wrinkles to your beauty products especially your hands and neck area. You look beautiful.”
