Nigerian Afropop music diva Tiwa Savage released her latest song “49-99” on September 5, 2019. And surprisingly, the smash hit was produced by Pheelz and co-written by rapper, Olamide Adedeji professionally known as Olamide
Tiwa during a session with Genius said the title of the song references the line “49 sitting, 99 standing” from legendary late music star Fela Kuti’s 1978 hit “Shuffering and Shmiling.”
However, she said that the song reflects the “hard life many Nigerians go through.” As from the time Fela put together the masterpiece till now.
Tiwa exemplified it this way, “a transit bus serves as a case study. It ought to have only 49 seated passengers, however due to poor economic conditions, we often have nearly twice that number of passengers standing (99).”
