Nollywood star Shawn Faqua and his wife, Dr. Sharon Faqua, have shared the emotional backstory of their union, revealing she nearly moved to Portugal permanently before their marriage. During a Pulse Valentine’s interview released on February 20, 2026, the couple detailed the “huge sacrifice” that kept Sharon in Nigeria.

The couple reflected on their journey during the special session, where Sharon admitted she was “done and ready to move” before Shawn entered her life.
She noted that staying in Lagos was a major pivot from her original plan to relocate abroad. Sharon described the decision as a life-altering choice that favoured her relationship over her international aspirations.
”I was done and ready to move and this young man decided to come into my life and bring me to Lagos of all places.” Sharon Faqua said.
The height myth and marital patience
Sharon used the interview to address persistent social media rumors regarding her husband’s physical stature. She explained that fans often mistakenly label the actor as “short” because she is exceptionally tall and frequently wears heels.
Sharon clarified that while she towers over many, Shawn is of average height and the visual contrast simply creates a false narrative in photos.
”People think that you’re a short man because sometimes I read the comments. He’s not short, I’m just very tall. He’s okay but he’s not short.” The actress noted.
The conversation shifted to personal growth, with Shawn highlighting the importance of emotional endurance in marriage. He jokingly remarked that loving Sharon has forced him to develop the “fruit of patience” in ways he never expected.
Shawn noted that while other married men failed to warn him, he has learned to adapt to the demands of their high-energy household.
”It is at this moment that he realized he needed patience. You know where the Bible says patience as a fruit of the spirit? You made it.” Shawn Faqua shouted.
Historic train vows and romantic gestures
The couple also reminisced about their record-breaking wedding, which they held aboard a moving train in October 2025. Sharon revealed that she had to convince a skeptical Shawn to go through with the unconventional venue.
Although the actor initially thought she was joking, he eventually embraced the idea, making them the first couple to wed on a Nigerian locomotive.
”Getting married on a train. Because I mentioned it and I was on it at some point. I’m like ‘I bet I’m just joking.’ Almost. I love it, let’s do it.” The star declared.
The interview concluded with the pair reading intimate, hand-written letters to each other. This public display of affection follows a week of heavy celebrity news, including when Gilbert Baci revealed his deep crush on a close family friend.
Sharon ended the session by describing Shawn as her “soulmate” and “home,” echoing the sentiment of industry reconciliations like when Mercy Aigbe explained her previous set disputes to clear the air with colleagues.
