Story Highlights
Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage successfully arranged a private meeting between her son Jamil and American streamer IShowSpeed in Lagos on January 22, 2026. Despite attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Savage utilized her industry connections, including skit maker ShankComics, to locate the YouTuber after her son begged to meet his idol.

Being a parent often means doing the impossible, and Tiwa Savage just proved that distance is no barrier when her child wants something. The acclaimed singer shared heartwarming details of how she orchestrated a meeting between her son, Jamil Balogun, and popular American streamer IShowSpeed.
This encounter happened while the YouTube sensation was touring Lagos. Jamil, clearly a big fan, sent his mother a photo of the streamer to ask if she knew him.
The singer did not hesitate to use her influence. Savage revealed she was currently in Davos, Switzerland, but she immediately made calls to ensure her son got his wish.
The WhatsApp Plea
Savage shared screenshots of the conversation with her son on Instagram. Jamil initiated the chat by sharing a photo of IShowSpeed, asking, “Mom do you know who this is?”
The singer confirmed she knew the streamer. Jamil then explained that Speed was currently in Nigeria and asked if he could meet him.
Savage’s response was immediate. She asked if he wanted to meet the star, to which Jamil replied with excitement, “Yessssss pleaseeee.”
The Somebody’s Son crooner admitted the process was stressful but worth it. She captioned the post, “As parents, we move mountains for our children. Jamil called me and said pls mommy I know you can make me meet Ishowspeed and I’m all the way in Davos.”
Davos To Lagos Connection
Locating the energetic streamer was likely a challenge given his erratic schedule in Lagos. The visit has already sparked significant online conversation, especially after Cubana Chief Priest defends Peller following a controversial interaction with the American star.
Savage, however, bypassed the drama. She credited popular content creator ShankComics and entertainment moguls Bizzle Osikoya and Ola Kunbi for making the link-up happen.
In the chat, Tiwa updated Jamil in real-time. She told him, “He is in a mall… next to Upbeat… I’m watching his stream… He is leaving now.”
The coordination paid off. Savage posted a photo of a smiling Jamil standing next to IShowSpeed, who was dressed in a traditional red dashiki.
This wholesome moment stands in contrast to other social media reactions regarding the tour, as netizens recently dug up an old video of Peller vowing to ignore the streamer, adding a layer of irony to the current buzz.
Jamil, however, seemed unbothered by the online noise. His mother noted that he now believes she can “make anything happen.”
