Comedian AY (Richard Ayodeji Makun) has slammed the Super Eagles after Nigeria’s World Cup exit. He says the team brought shame on fans who backed them.

AY spoke in a video shared online after the final whistle in the decisive qualifier. He said the players failed the country despite loud support and help from officials. The rant came weeks after Davido hails Osimhen hat-trick win in a key win.
In the clip, he repeated the phrase “big shame” again and again. In his words, “It is a shame, big shame, big shame.” He argued that, with so much help, there was no excuse left.
The comedian linked the poor show to the absence of Victor Osimhen. He said, “Without Osimhen, there is no Super Eagles at all.” AY said the match changed once Osimhen left the field injured or rested.
AY fumes over World Cup miss
He stressed that fans did their part, both at home and in stands. AY said people spent time, money and hope, only to feel mocked. He called on the players to look inwards and admit clear fault.
The loss adds to rising concern over Nigeria’s path to the 2026 finals. Last month, a South African minister said he did not want Nigeria there. He made the point in a blunt warning about rivalry.
Fear over Super Eagles future
AY warned the players to leave the story behind and focus on club duty. He told them to go back to their clubs and prove real form there. In his view, fans now see the national shirt as a risk, not pride.
The rant reflects long running worry that the team has lost its bite. Past stars have also urged fresh ideas for coaching, training and player selection. Many fans want clearer plans from football bosses as pressure grows before the next qualifiers.
AY’s hard tone still came from a place of deep love for the side. He praised Osimhen in past chats and said the striker lifts the whole mood. By pointing to him again, he showed fear over what lies ahead.
For now, his rant adds to the noise around Nigeria’s failed push. The Super Eagles must now regroup fast, with fans watching every move closely. If they want trust back, they will need wins, not jokes, next time
