A Facebook clip from 14 September shows the new plan. Josiah stands on stage and directs ushers at the doors. He tells them to hand clothes to braless women. He adds that such looks pull minds from praise.

Dress code push at Benin church

He names three ushers by name during the clip. “From today, if we see a bare n*pple, give a bra,” he says. “Tell her the church bought it for her,” he adds. “We think you can’t afford one, so take this.”

He warns that any refuser will get sent home. “Ask her, how much is a tricycle to your house?” he says. Ushers then help her leave with calm words. The hall nods as he sets the strict rule.

He also gives rules for men in the hall. “No sagging, no bare boxers, wear a belt,” he says. He vows to buy belts for those who come without. He urges clean looks that show due care for church.

He speaks on short skirts and low tops as well. “If your mini skirt rides up, take this white pyjama,” he says. “If this church can’t change you, find a new church,” he adds. The plan, he says, will cut noise during praise.

He talks about lust and stray eyes during praise time. “Some brothers love br**sts and b*tts here,” he warns. “They don’t love the girls, they love what they see,” he says. He asks ushers to cover nursing mums with loose wraps.

Ushers act, belts and wraps follow

Later on, he sets one last clear note. “We are serious on this,” he tells the hall. “I am not joking,” he adds with a firm face. “Dress neat or find another place of worship,” he warns.
