Eke called Benue the “food hub of the land” and warned that small farms using local seeds are now under threat. He added that raids, land grabs and kidnaps are driving farmers away and cutting food supply.

GMO fears as farms face collapse

Eke said foreign seed firms step in with GMO “fixes” as farms fail. “This is not random. It looks like a plan,” he said, warning that Nigeria may soon depend on patented seeds from abroad.

He urged leaders to guard Benue’s local seeds and protect the food chain. Fans online backed his view and called for checks on links between farm raids and GMO firms.
