Sonia Ighalo Breaks Silence on Her Divorce From Jude
Sonia, the ex-wife of Nigerian football star Jude Ighalo, has finally spoken up about their split. She’s not holding back and made it very clear—she was the one who filed for the divorce, not the other way round.

In a bold post shared on her Instagram Stories, Sonia tackled those trolling her online. Many of them had assumed Jude left her because of how she behaved. But Sonia fired back with strong words.
“What you hear every day – that’s the reason your husband left you,” she mocked, adding a laughing emoji. “You’re all sick in that country.”
“I Divorced Him in Court,” Sonia Reveals
Sonia went on to explain that the split was legally finalised in the UK. “Just to clarify, I divorced your favourite in front of Justice H. at the family court in London on June 10, 2022,” she wrote.
This statement appears to shut down the ongoing gossip that Jude walked away from their marriage. Sonia made it clear that the decision came from her side.
Sonia Calls Out Online Critics
Sonia also addressed the hate she’s been receiving. She said she understands that some people grew up in toxic environments without love or proper parenting. But she added that it’s unfair they focus their anger on strangers online instead of their parents.
“The fact that you are not dissipating the same energy to your parents who failed you is worrisome for me,” she said.
She ended her message with the word “Shalom,” which means peace—possibly signalling that she’s ready to move on.
Jude and Sonia: A Public Breakup
Jude Ighalo and Sonia were once seen as a power couple. However, their split has been public and messy. Though the footballer has stayed mostly quiet, Sonia has often used social media to share her side.
Now, she’s made it official—she ended the marriage, not Jude.
