Odumodublvck fires back at critics

Controversial Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has spoken out against those questioning his rap style.

In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM Lagos, the ‘Declan Rice’ hitmaker boldly claimed that his critics are only reacting out of fear.

“They feel intimidated,” he said. “When upcoming rappers try to sound like me, people attack them. That’s discouraging.”

‘Declan Rice’ is the biggest cultural export

Odumodublvck didn’t hold back while praising his 2023 breakout song, ‘Declan Rice’. He declared it the most culturally relevant Nigerian hip-hop song in history.

He said the track gained international attention when Arsenal Football Club used it in July 2023 to announce Declan Rice’s transfer from West Ham.

According to him, “In the history of Nigerian hip-hop, no song has had more impact than ‘Declan Rice’. It is the biggest digital asset on Arsenal’s social media. Check it.”

“God will punish all of them”

In addition to defending his style, Odumodublvck insisted his music goes beyond language boundaries.

“We’ve done verses in English, Vernacular, and even Patois,” he explained. “But they still talk down on it.”

He challenged critics to name any Nigerian rap line more culturally powerful than his bar in ‘Cast’, a track that made waves online.

“And they say I’m not a rapper?” he questioned. “That’s a fallacy. That’s ungrateful. And God will punish all of them.”
