Story Highlights
Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday issued a public apology on January 27, 2026, following backlash over a sensitive question she asked BBNaija winner Imisioluwa. The actress explained that her inquiry about Imisi’s mother stemmed from personal concern rather than a desire for clout.

The online community reacted strongly after a video surfaced from Imisi’s birthday party on January 27, 2026.
In the clip, Nkechi Blessing grabbed the microphone to ask the celebrant a deep personal question. She asked if the reality star would ever forgive her mother.
The query caused an immediate stir among the guests, with many audibly gasping at the boldness of the moment.
Despite the tension, Imisi stood up and gave a direct answer to the gathered crowd. She confirmed that she had already forgiven her parent.
However, the emotional nature of the exchange led to tears, which angered many fans online. They felt the question ruined the mood of the celebration.
The reality star, who recently honours victory day with cryptic Roman numeral tattoo, appeared visibly moved during the exchange.
Nkechi Blessing clears the air
Nkechi Blessing quickly released a follow-up video to address the growing criticism. She denied any malicious intent behind her actions.
The actress stated she did not want to trend for negative reasons this year. She begged fans to understand her perspective. ”I sincerely want to apologize to anybody who got offended with the question that I asked Imisi,” she said.
She explained that her own close relationship with her late mother influenced her decision to speak up. She wanted to ensure Imisi held no regrets. This incident follows a busy period for the actress, who recently confirms arrest over viral gym photo in a separate controversy, last year.
Tears of joy, not sadness
Nkechi further clarified that Imisi’s tears were an emotional release, not a sign of sadness. She noted that she also cries on her own birthdays. ”It was tears of joy. On my birthday too I dey cry,” Nkechi insisted in the video.
She urged critics to stop dragging her and asked for forgiveness from Imisi’s fanbase, known as “Imistars.” The actress ended her message by expressing love for the celebrant and wishing her well.
