Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has officially apologised to the public following weeks of intense pressure and accusations on social media. The Delta State-based activist released a video on his Instagram page on Saturday, January 3, 2026, where he asked for forgiveness from those he has wronged.
Gwamnishu admitted that he made mistakes while carrying out his duties and failed to remain accountable in certain cases. This public confession comes shortly after VeryDarkMan released a phone call exposing Harrison Gwamnishu over a disputed refund, which sparked widespread debate about his integrity.
Admission of financial lapses
In the video, Gwamnishu specifically addressed issues regarding funds people entrusted to him for legal and security cases.
He confessed that he did not properly manage resources given to him by clients identified as Madam Tonia and Franklin. The activist revealed that a woman sent him 600,000 Naira to handle a job, but he failed to deliver the expected results or communicate effectively.
Gwamnishu confirmed that he has started refunding the money since November and promised to clear all outstanding debts soon. He urged anyone else he might have offended or owed to contact him directly so he can resolve the matter privately.
Denying kidnapping claims
Gwamnishu also used the opportunity to clear his name regarding serious allegations linking him to kidnapping activities. He firmly denied being a kidnapper and explained that his role only involves assisting security agencies in handling kidnapping cases.
The activist claimed that his previous statements in Pidgin English were misunderstood by the public and twisted to sound like a confession of crime. He also extended a direct hand of friendship to his main critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Gwamnishu praised VDM for his advocacy work and apologised for ignoring previous attempts by the critic to resolve complaints privately. The controversy has drawn in other public figures, recently seeing VeryDarkMan slam Ruth Kadiri for deleting a post that initially supported the embattled activist.
Gwamnishu has since deleted two earlier videos where he tried to defend himself, stating he now chooses peace over conflict.
