On January 20, 2026, media personality Daniel Regha weighed in on the trending Fela debate, openly criticizing both Seun Kuti and Wizkid. He argued that Seun’s aggressive delivery often undermines his valid points, while dismissing Wizkid’s musical impact as merely “recycled” compared to Fela’s revolutionary activism.

The ongoing debate over who truly upholds the legacy of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has taken a fresh turn as critics step in to referee the chaos.
Media personality Daniel Regha has issued a scathing verdict on the matter, accusing both Seun Kuti and Wizkid of using the late Afrobeat legend’s name for cheap popularity.
His comments come just days after tensions flared online when Seun Kuti labels Wizkid FC ghosts for failing to translate their online noise into stadium ticket sales.
Regha took to X (formerly Twitter) on January 20, 2026, to address the heated exchange that has dominated social media timelines this week.
The verdict on Seun Kuti
The critic acknowledged that Fela’s youngest son often speaks the truth but ruins his message through his presentation.
Regha noted that Seun is known to “overdo things” and frequently becomes unnecessarily noisy to gain attention online.
However, he admitted that regarding the specific issue of Fela’s supremacy, Seun was not completely wrong in his assessment.
”Fela is the blueprint, and it’s disrespectful for any Afrobeats artiste to be compared to him whether it’s based on originality or impact,” Regha stated in his post.
This sentiment echoes the broader family stance, as seen recently when Motunrayo Kuti drags Wizkid’s father for suggesting his son had surpassed the Afrobeat pioneer.
Wizkid under fire
While Seun faced criticism for his delivery, Regha reserved his harshest words for Grammy-winner Wizkid.
He insisted that the Ojuelegba crooner “doesn’t hold a candle” to Fela’s name or his historical significance.
Regha argued that Fela pushed for societal change while creating timeless music, whereas Wizkid mostly “recycles and commodifies music.”
The critic further questioned Wizkid’s maturity, citing his method of handling heated arguments as proof that he still has much to learn.
”For someone who claims to be the ‘biggest’ in the game, his way of handling heated arguments shows his level of maturity,” Regha added.
He concluded by advising both parties to work on themselves and stop disrespecting Fela’s legacy for the sake of online clout.
