Nollywood movie star Queen Nwokoye (Queen Nwokoye) says her family always comes before work. She spoke on how this choice affects offers from Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele. She spoke while looking back at how becoming a mum changed work.

She said calls from both producers often come when home needs are high. She shared the story in a recent chat about Nollywood actress work choices. Fans were keen to know why she remained missing from many hit films.
Toyin kept calling while she stayed home
Nwokoye revealed that Toyin Abraham first reached out to her in 2016. At the time, she had young children and chose to stay close. Her children were small then, and she wanted to handle home herself.
She said more offers followed over the years, but her plans kept changing. The actress finally worked with Toyin this year after finding a free window. She said it took time before she felt ready to leave them longer.
Funke invites her for almost every film
Speaking on Funke Akindele, Nwokoye said the filmmaker always keeps her in mind. She claimed Funke rarely starts a movie without first placing a call to her. Still, she noted, many people think she often turns Funke down.
Yet each time, Nwokoye said, their plans clash with school runs and travel. She said her choice is not hurtful, pointing to recent mum stories. She explained that they speak often and laugh about the missed chances.
No bad blood, just a firm family rule
Nwokoye made clear she values the bond she shares with both stars. She said they understand her need to plan work around home. She said true friends accept when one of them must slow down.
She also urged young actors to set limits so work does not hurt home life. For her, missing one job is better than missing key time with children. She warned that chasing every role can strain homes and lead to regret.
Looking ahead, Nwokoye hopes to appear more in projects with both women. She said she now plans better so work and home can sit side by side. But she added that no script is worth peace lost in her house.
She thanked Toyin and Funke for standing by her choices over time. She said their trust makes it easier to balance dreams and duty.
“My family comes first,” she said simply, “because they are my base.”
