Key Points
- A fan post asks Iyabo Ojo to join the Ochanya push. A louder counterpost says she should rest now.
- Supporters say Iyabo already paid a high price online. They list past drags from rivals.
- They insist the Ochanya case has strong voices already. They add that reopening proves progress.
Iyabo Ojo is at the centre of a fresh online clash after some campaigners tried to draft her into the new round of calls for justice over late Ochanya Ogbanje. The counter-post, shared in strong terms, told them to “leave Iyabo alone” and stop using her name to chase headlines or stir fights.

The pushback followed a message to the actress from an entertainment page asking her to lend her influence to the revived case. That message said her “voice, influence, words are important now” and used a Yoruba proverb on a mother’s duty.
The reply from fans argued the case already has political and media backing and pointed at the latest petition drive. Ochanya justice petition push
The opposing fans said dragging Iyabo into every civic fight is no longer fair. They noted that each time she spoke on a public case she got waves of insults from rival influencers. They said the cost to her mental health has been clear.
Calls to Iyabo resurface online
In the first post, the page hailed her past work for “different people” and said this was another moment to stand up. It urged her to overlook past abuse and join the campaign once more. A supporter, however, fired back: “Please leave Iyabo Ojo alone. Stop these eye-service calls.”
That fan said Iyabo is “not a lawyer or a judge” and should not be pushed. The fan also said some activists only want a new talking point. They warned that forcing her name in can restart old feuds.
The post named Lizzy Anjorin, journalist Kemi Olunloyo and commentator VeryDarkMan among people who “poke at her daily”. It said each new cause gives them a fresh door. It added that Iyabo has not even healed from the last dragging over a justice story.
Fans say case has enough support
Supporters of the actress stressed that the case is alive already. They said a senator has just called for another petition and wants cleared suspects to face trial again. They argued this shows the system is moving without Iyabo’s input.
They also pointed at fresh celebrity support, cash gifts and louder media coverage in recent days. That, they said, is proof the story no longer depends on one Nollywood name. Hilda Baci’s ₦2m Ochanya support
Another part of the fan defence focused on Iyabo’s new stage in life. The writer said the actress is now a grandmother and must shield her grandson from “negative energy” on social media. They claimed trolls often extend anger to Iyabo’s daughter and the baby, calling such moves wicked.
The fan post also recalled that Iyabo’s past activism sometimes split the public. It said some followers of rival entertainers used the chance to accuse her of chasing clout. It argued the actress gained more stress than praise from those efforts.
One line in the post read, “Iyabo wearing black bonnet and fighting on live video has ended.” It added that she deserves a calmer phase. It urged the public to let younger activists handle this round.
The writer further said the success point has already been reached. They noted that the authorities have reopened the matter and are listening again. They asked: “Is that not the win?”
In the end, the counter-post made an appeal to campaigners. It told them to stop tagging Iyabo in every justice upload. It asked them to let her direct her energy to family, work and private life
