A Lagos court heard a grave case today. Police brought NURTW leader Shamusideen Oladiti to face charges. He is 55 and known as Shameleon locally. Prosecutors say he caused a dispatch rider’s death.

The court sits at Ebute Meta Magistrate Court, Yaba. The bench read three counts to the accused. They are murder, conspiracy, and grievous harm charges. Oladiti pled not guilty to each count today.
Court remand and DPP advice
The Magistrate ordered his remand after the short plea. The bench asked the DPP for quick legal advice. A new date will follow when that note arrives. Defence counsel kept calm as the order came.
Police in Lagos have tackled city crimes this month. They earlier arrested a suspect in the ex-convict necklace robbery. That case also drew fast field work from detectives. This new file now moves through the courts.
Prosecutors placed the acts within the Lagos Island district. They cited two days in August and September this year. They also named two men hurt in the brawl. Imam Ramon later died, while Omale Samuel survived.
How the Tapa Street clash began
The fight started on Tapa Street, Lagos Island. Witnesses say a bike scratched Oladiti’s car side. A row grew fast as voices rose and hands flew. People shout that tempers ran hot that day.
Eyewitnesses told police that Oladiti hit the rider. They saw helmet blows and many fist strikes. The man fell and slumped on the road. Helpers rushed him to Lagos Island General Hospital.
Doctors tried, but Ramon later died at Marina. Police then took notes and moved to arrest. Officers said others linked to the case fled. Detectives still search for each of those aides.
Prosecutors said the counts breach state law sections. They cited Sections 223, 411, and 245 today. That is the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Those codes cover murder, plot, and grievous harm.
Meanwhile, another case pressed police into a lab check. They opened a forensic probe into Akingboye death. Officers sealed the home and searched for proof. The work shows a push for fair, swift trials.
